Javier Lopez is a formal professional baseball player who is best known as a left-handed specialist for his sidearm delivery.

He has pitched in numerous Major League Baseball including Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, and San Francisco Giants.

He studied at Robinson Secondary School and attended the University of Virginia to earn a degree in psychology.

Lopez started playing baseball at the University and played for Virginia Cavaliers. Then he started playing as one of the UVA players who made it to the major leagues.

He left the University after three years to play professional baseball later giving priority to education and earned a degree in 2002. He completed his education just to fulfill a promise to his father-in-law.

Professional baseball player Javier Lopez started his career journey from the South Bend Silver Hawks to the A Midwest League as a starting pitcher. He moved to the bullpen thinking that he won’t get to the major leagues as a starter.

He began the season with Arizona’s A-Advanced affiliate which is now ‘Lancaster Jayhawks.

In December 2002, he joined Boston Red Sox where he played as a left-handed specialist. He joined Colorado Rockies in the year 2003 but after playing for two years he left it in 2005 to join ‘Arizona Diamondbacks.

In Arizona Diamondback he couldn’t do well and was granted free agency. In 2006, he joined ‘Chicago White Sox organization and competed with Boone Logan for the left-handed specialist.

Javier lost the competition with him and joined ‘Boston Red Sox. He was traded to Boston Red Sox for David Riske. He played for Red Fox till 2009 and then in 2010, he joined Pittsburg Pirates.

Javier signed a one-year contract with Pittsburg Pirates replacing John Grabow. After a year he joined San Francisco Giants where he contributed to his retirement. Lopez announced his retirement on February 8, 2017.
