Peggy Long Obituary, A Remarkable Life Remembered

Peggy Long Obituary, Death – Peggy Elizabeth Long, a beloved member of the community, passed away on December 14, 2023, after bravely battling an extended illness. Born on June 22, 1953, in Tampa, FL, Peggy spent the majority of her life in Union and Baker Counties. A dedicated mother, she led a simple life, working tirelessly to provide for her four children.

Known for her compassionate nature, Peggy had a profound love for animals, especially cats. Her caring spirit led her to go to great lengths, even stopping traffic, to rescue and care for as many stray animals as she could. In the community, she was recognized as a sweet lady with a loving heart, leaving a positive impact on those who knew her.

Peggy is preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Nicole Anderson, her husband, Wendell Long, her brother, Robert Barker, and her mother, Mary Barker. She is survived by her children: Dana (Mark) Pelletier of North Carolina, Joshua (Lisa) Long of Live Oak, Stephanie (Brad) Crawford of Glen St. Mary, and Gina (Peter) Stefani of Cedar Key. Peggy also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jackie, Letha, Selene, Alan, Nicholas, Luke, Gunnar, Amelia, Ty, Leah, Pete, and Jaclyn, as well as nine great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Linda O’Steen of Lake City and Betty (Dean) Elixson of Worthington Springs, and numerous extended family members also mourn her passing.

A graveside service to celebrate Peggy’s life will take place at 3:00 pm on December 18, 2023, at Elzey Chapel Cemetery in Lake Butler, FL. Pastor Michael Ramondetta will officiate the service. Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler, is entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to local animal shelters, honoring Peggy’s deep love and commitment to animals throughout her life.
